I LOVE suburbia and I grew up there/here! *gasp* I tried living in the city and couldn't take the sirens and helicopters all of the time. if you're lucky enough to live that long. You may not appreciate these things now, but you will one day in life. there's a lot to be said for being able to see stars at night, or fall asleep with your windows open to the sound of crickets, or seeing a family of deer in your yard at twilight. So this isn't really about ITP vs OTP as it is "getting as far away from mom and dad as I possibly can."Īlso, children. The idicocy of this thread can be summed up in one word: MILLENIALS!Īnd if I were to venture a guess, the majority of these *kids* dissing on the suburbs in fact grew up in the suburbs. I have a few plants growing in some pots I will probably bring along with my on my move. So I can't wait to move to my next place and be yard free again. One of my regular chores growing up was mowing the lawn so I cant stand it. I also have a yard right now, I just knew when I bought it I would have to factor in the cost of paying someone to mow it. But the suburbs just seem like the worse of both where you are still disconnected from things, doing the same things over and over. Now, I could see myself doing a rural life at some point.

Plus I can't stand sitting in traffic, I got to have a interesting commute and place to be around. Not that I don't love spending a night in too but I love very day being out meeting new people, trying new places to eat, riding my bike, making new friends at events, getting to know neighbors at a bar, walking the Beltline, exploring a new neigborhood on MARTA, going to festivals, or catching a game, or a dozen other activities. But I just can't see living there and doing that same routine over and over.
I am glad you and others have the choice of suburbs and I grew up in and often visit suburbs. Literally the same anywhere, they just happen to live in the suburbs? Live, go to work, eat, breathe, have sex, shower, watch TV.
